Acid Reflux Diet Control - Should I Or Shouldn’t I?

Acid Reflux Diet Control

If you plan on following a diet for acid reflux, then here is some general acid reflux diet control advice for you to follow. You should not try to eat large meals and refrain from eating just before you go to bed. Another thing to avoid is fatty and/or spicy foods. All of these 'bad' habits can lead to an increase of the production of stomach acid which may enter and cause damage to your esophagus. This is especially true if the closing muscles, or sphincters, do not work as they ought. The end result is that you may end up with acid reflux disease or permanent heartburn.

When you are thinking about a diet that controls your acid reflux disease, there are many foods that you have to take into consideration. There are foods that you should avoid, foods that are all right to be consumed in moderation and even foods that someone with acid reflux disease can definitely have. The first section of this acid reflux diet control article will consist of foods that should be avoided:

The next section of foods is those that are considered to be safe for an acid reflux diet:

This is not by any means all of the foods that are to be considered on an acid reflux disease diet, but this will get you off to a good start. Also, do not think you can ever dine out again. With the population turning more health conscious, so is the food industry. I know there will be something on the menu that you can have even if it is in moderation. When you find that you have your acid reflux disease somewhat controlled, try slowly adding a food from the forbidden list and note your reaction to it. If your acid reflux disease worsens, then it may be wise to completely avoid that food.

Acid reflux disease can also be controlled by medication. There are over-the-counter medications as well as prescription medications available. It is wise to consult your doctor if you find that your condition worsens.
